Revelations

...then he woke up one morning and thought about it long and hard, and realized that he ALREADY HAD artwork in

Memphis. West Memphis. Marion. Forrest City. Little Rock. North Little Rock. Fayetteville. Rogers. Bentonville. Bella Vista. Eureka Springs. Gravette. Fort Smith. Russellville. Stella. Atlanta. Vegas. Mesa. San Francisco. San Diego. Los Angeles. New Orleans. Hartfort. New York. Brooklyn. Philadelphia. Washington. Columbus. Petaluma. Seattle. Chicago. Portland. Dallas. Houston. Tampa. Paris. Frankfurt. Istanbul. Marrakesh. Perth. Zurich. Dublin. Belarus.

... just to name a few places.
And if he didn't have any there by now, then he would very soon.
If he had done it once, he could, and would do it again, and again and again.
...and just like that, the stress just melted away.
And he smiled, and laughed, and laughed, and laughed, and said to himself,

"It's going to be okay, Brother. I got you."

Who Is Perrion Y. Hurd? Good question.

You know?
It has occurred to me that some of you all don't know anything about me.
My Bad. Let's fix that:

ABOUT ME: (Is this an interview?)
I live and work in Little Rock, Arkansas, U.S.A. with two of my favorite beings, my wife, Gayle, and my cat, Ivan. I am a self-taught fine artist and freelance illustrator working with ink on paper, acrylic on paper and canvas, oil on canvas and mixed media.

I love to experiment with different media, it is kind of like a science experiment for me, and I am open to comments and suggestions ... as long as they are nice and/or respectful and not too mushy. If you know what I mean.

My current subjects are revolving around exploring the emotions and unique features in the faces of the people who I meet and talk to on my daily routine and how the feelings of other people influence my own emotional and mental states. Being a die-hard Beale Street, Memphis Tennessee Kid, I enjoy expressing my life long love for music.

As a book nerd forever, my long-standing interest in world mythology and the storytelling styles of the people of the world helps me to understand better the deeper mysteries of the human condition. Besides, who doesn't like a good story?

I would like the opportunity to show you all my internal, personal mythos and how I view the world around me. I hope that you like it and that it enriches your life for many years to come.

Update on how to purchase my works.

Good Evening, Everyone.

Here is one of the places that I will be selling
greeting cards, prints, posters, home decor and apparel.

I will be offering originals only to serious buyers and collectors,
amd will scale back my commissioned to focus on licensing.

I have had some success selling here in the past,
and I enjoy the way that they treat the customers
who did purchase works from here.

This profile will be updated soon with recent and current works.

I wanted my family friends to have first dibs
before I continue my Shameless Self Promotion Tour,
and I will keep you all up to date with changed and offers.

Learning New Things

Today I was most fortunate to spend time with some brilliant and very talented, teen student artists at Art Connection in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

We began the day with a demonstration by the fabulous pastelist, Virmarie DePoyster, who showed us the many different ways of using pastel mediums and discussed the need for artists to be able to talk to and communicate effectively with our audience through a well-written artist statement. I learned something new and now I have the courage to go on and break out those pastels in my supplies.

Then, after a brief lunch break, I showed the teens my artwork
(illustration, mixed media, and painting) and discussed the different techniques that I use to create them, with emphasis on the importance of practice, persistence, preservation, record-keeping and planning not just for art pieces, but for long-term business goals as artists as well.

Lastly, we all split into two groups. Half of the group stayed in the painting studio, where I will be spending the most of my time mentoring. The other half went into the digital studio to learn the importance of utilizing computer graphics with the amazing Steve Rockwell, who is a multi-disciplined artist and my own mentor.

The takeaway from today:

It is important for artists at all stages in their development to have a community to belong to and support from people like them who have the ability to share their knowledge and stories.

(...and excess art supplies, too. Wink-wink, Kids.)

Thank you all for making today Awesome!
